Humanitarian Aid: Afghanistan - Project-Number: 107041
To help them to survive the harsh winter, families in Afghanistan need warm clothing, coal, wood and blankets. However, most people simply cannot afford these items. For this reason, every year ADRA helps the poorest among them, enabling them to survive the winter. A few women are also provided with the materials needed to product blankets. The proceeds they make from selling these items enable them to get their families through the winter.

After the flooding of the Kosi river in 2008 the affected families in Bihar still depend on help, especially those families who don’t belong to a cast and who are thus at the lowest end of society. To improve their living conditions they receive milk cows for the purpose of food security and hand pumps to access safe drinking water. In addition, children and teachers – as well as the population of 18 villages are trained in disaster preparedness. Through this project 50,000 people in Bihar can be helped.
