ADRA Germany introduces itself

Germany’s Adventist Development and Relief Agency ADRA Deutschland e. V. is a state-recognized non-governmental organization (NGO). It was founded in Germany in 1986 by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. In accordance with its motto "Damit Menschen wieder hoffen können" [To enable people once again to live in hope], ADRA works all over the world with numerous national and international partners to combat poverty and hunger. By implementing the development objectives of the United Nations (Millennium Development Goals), ADRA is laying the groundwork for people to have justified hope.

ADRA helps people – regardless of their political and religious views, their gender or ethnic backgrounds. The ramifications of globalization demonstrate this: we all share a single world together, and do so interdependently in many and varied ways. What happens in Afghanistan, Somalia, Russia or Turkey has ramifications for all countries and peoples everywhere. It affects every one of us – we are all part of the big picture.

International aid – in cooperation with strong partners

Regrettably, the list of countries in which suffering and poverty dominate is an extremely long one. That is why ADRA has committed itself to becoming active in all of these countries in order to remedy these inequalities, working with strong partners to achieve that outcome.

For example, together with stars such as Herbert Grönemeyer, Bono from U2 and the UNESCO we were involved in the 2007/2008 campaign ‘GEMEINSAM FÜR AFRIKA’ [Together for africa]. As a founding member of the German aid campaign ‘Aktion Deutschland hilft’ we work with strong partners to alleviate poverty for people all around the world.

We hope that the things which hold good in our projects will culminate in a better future in those areas. The success of our projects validates our efforts and strengthens our resolve: “To enable people once again to live in hope”, all around the globe.
